The 1960's "Propat" Skater

The "Propat" Gollies were experimental badges made by the Miller Company during the 1960's.  As can be seen in the scan (above right), their name comes from the stamping on the back.  There were only 2 different badges, a Skater and a Standard. The design obviously failed to meet some criterion or another and no more were produced.

They are visually very different from any other Golly badges.  A foil-type material was laid over the metal of the badge on which the coloured design was printed; this was then coated with clear plastic.  The badges are known to brown with age (and possibly other influences such as light perhaps).  So look out for a nice one with bright colours for your collection - but don't forget to take out a second mortgage on your house first!
