1970 Series
This was a straight forward series of 13 Gollies from Robertson's, largely from the same manufacturer and with few variations. It contrasted significantly with the multitude of variations and brooch manufacturers Golly collectors had been used to for the long running White Waistcoated series. There are very few variations to be found as there were only 2 main manufacturers. REV Gomm of Birmingham produced all of these brooches for Robertsons until later in the 1970s by which time Fattorini had stopped production of White Waistcoated brooches and switched to these.
All, with the exception of the Lollipopman, have the
distinctive plain yellow waistcoat with no lettering on them.
The lack of lettering is the clue to quickly distinguishing between the Lollipopman from
this series and that from the White Waistcoated series (the other differences are the
trousers and the eyes, the Lollipopman from the earlier series has black
trousers and centralized 'pop' eyes
