The 1980 Fruits
1981 saw the arrival of the first acrylic brooches from Robertson. Throughout the 1980's there were something like 39 different designs but the first ones were the 5 fruits. After the 1960's fruits, these designs harked back to the pre-war designs which had the little golly face peering through the leaves.
There are 5 different brooches: Blackcurrent, Lemon, Orange, Raspberry and Strawberry. Each brooch has a clear plastic finish, known as a bubble coating. The Strawberry can be found both with and without the coating. None of the badges are backstamped with the manufacturer's name.
